Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough healthcare instruction with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat concerns extending from common ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which provide them the prior experience vital to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet normally encounter.
