Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired thorough medical training with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address problems extending from familiar problems for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which supply them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
