Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received comprehensive health care instruction with a concentration on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for complications stretching from conventional ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which give them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
