Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually a number of podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing healthcare training with an importance on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to handle complications ranging from common afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the prior experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet commonly experience.
