Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive healthcare training with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat conditions ranging from usual problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet routinely encounter.
