Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to handle concerns stretching from basic disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the skill vital to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet usually encounter.
