Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained thorough healthcare training with a concentration on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to address issues extending from normal ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which give them the skill necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent countless complications which the feet regularly encounter.
