Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received extensive health care training with an attention to on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address problems extending from general problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which give them the skill crucial to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet frequently experience.
