They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing health care training with a concentration on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are skilled to treat conditions varying from basic ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the expertise needed to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent countless problems which the feet regularly encounter.
