Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained encompassing health care training with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat conditions varying from usual disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which give them the experience required to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
