Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care training with an emphasis on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to handle problems stretching from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise required to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
