Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive health care training with a main focus on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to address problems extending from regular problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience essential to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet usually encounter.
