Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained comprehensive medical training with an attention to on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to care for issues varying from simple ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet typically experience.
