Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and various podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained comprehensive health care training with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for concerns extending from basic disorders such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
