Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing medical education with a main focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with concerns stretching from common ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which provide them the expertise crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
