Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained significant medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are instructed to treat complications extending from commonplace problems like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience required to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against a large number of troubles which the feet normally encounter.
