Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired significant medical training with a main focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to treat problems varying from common ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the skill required to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against a large number of issues which the feet generally encounter.
