Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received wide-ranging health care training with a concentration on complications involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to manage problems ranging from standard ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet regularly experience.
