Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough medical training with a concentration on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat complications ranging from commonplace ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet generally encounter.
