Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and various podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging health care training with a concentration on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage complications extending from normal ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the expertise necessary to conduct surgery on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
