Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial healthcare training with an emphasis on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to care for problems varying from simple conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
