Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat conditions ranging from simple problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet normally encounter.
