Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical training with a focus on issues involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat issues stretching from typical ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which furnish them the prior experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid countless issues which the feet frequently encounter.
