Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired substantial medical education with a stress on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to manage issues extending from familiar disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet regularly experience.
