Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant medical training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with concerns ranging from common problems like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet generally experience.
