Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained thorough healthcare training with a focus on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with concerns ranging from regular ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet normally experience.
