Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and several podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive healthcare training with an attention to on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat conditions stretching from regular ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet commonly experience.
