Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained significant health care training with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle conditions varying from simple ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and avoid countless complications which the feet commonly experience.
