Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received considerable health care education with a concentration on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to manage problems extending from general ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which provide them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet normally experience.
