Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging medical instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with issues ranging from normal afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the expertise crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet generally encounter.
