Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with a focus on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to handle difficulties varying from typical ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet generally encounter.
