Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired comprehensive medical instruction with a stress on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to care for difficulties varying from regular problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the expertise required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet normally encounter.
