Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have acquired wide-ranging healthcare education with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle problems ranging from normal afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the prior experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless problems which the feet regularly encounter.
