Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have gained extensive medical instruction with a main focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to deal with problems ranging from typical problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which give them the expertise needed to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
