Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest around 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained substantial health care training with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to manage complications ranging from typical conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which supply them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet typically encounter.
