Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical education with an importance on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to care for problems stretching from basic ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
