Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired thorough medical training with a focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat issues ranging from commonplace afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which give them the expertise crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and prevent countless troubles which the feet generally experience.
