Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend approximately ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive healthcare instruction with a focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with concerns ranging from standard ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of troubles which the feet usually encounter.
