Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired thorough medical training with a main focus on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat problems ranging from familiar ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which give them the experience required to carry out surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet typically experience.
