Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and actually several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received wide-ranging medical education with a main focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are instructed to care for concerns ranging from normal ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the skill vital to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet regularly experience.
