Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and actually various podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable medical training with a concentration on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to address problems stretching from familiar disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which give them the practical experience crucial to carry out surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet frequently experience.
