Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received substantial health care instruction with a focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to address problems ranging from common afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the skill essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet typically experience.
