Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs lie within these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are educated to treat conditions ranging from typical problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet commonly encounter.
