Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough health care education with a focus on complications involving the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat complications stretching from basic afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which furnish them the practical experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet usually encounter.
