Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough health care training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat complications ranging from typical problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which supply them the expertise vital to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
