Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive health care training with a main focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are educated to manage problems varying from basic ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent numerous issues which the feet generally encounter.
