Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually various podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired comprehensive healthcare training with an importance on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are qualified to manage conditions extending from general conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet generally experience.
