Our podiatrists invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received significant medical training with a concentration on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to address concerns extending from regular ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and defend against countless conditions which the feet typically encounter.
