Our doctors spend about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive medical education with a stress on problems involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to deal with problems ranging from common ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which furnish them the expertise crucial to execute surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
