Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with a main focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to care for issues varying from familiar disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the prior experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.
Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet commonly experience.
